As an engineer and master craftsman (in four different disciplines), it was always important to me to develop high-quality and durable solutions from a technical and engineering perspective. The convertible tops, but also the gullwing doors & butterfly doors were very elaborate, yet at the same time very durable technical “marvels” – which also impressed our customers with their filigree soft top boxes/closing mechanisms … and still do. Many of our vehicles that we now get back into maintenance or restoration have “hardly left any feathers” in the convertible top linkage and drive technology. Everything still fits damn well and tensions the soft top as it did almost on the first day. Even after over 40 years. This is SGS quality, which we call “Timeless High-Class Enginee

High-class means A+ quality
With almost 50 years of experience in the construction of hinged doors, fully automatic covers and special constructions, we at SGS (and Design + Technik GmbH) have also developed pioneering design and aesthetic solutions for industry. Development for OEMs has always meant responsibility for full functionality for at least 10 to 15 years in series production. This claim can still be felt in every one of our designs today, when we actually live the good old “Made in Germany” seal of quality every day and build for eternity!!
In fact, our convertible tops and gullwing doors from the 1980/90s still work remarkably well, as many “living SGS examples” show … Made in Germany 2.0 also in 2025!
